Mr. Mark Andreasen currently teaches Biology and AP Biology at Riverside Preparatory, serves as the Science Department Chair and is the coach for high school boy’s basketball. Before coming to Riverside Prep he taught a year at Silverado High School. Mr. Andreasen earned his teaching credential from Redlands University. Prior to Redlands he graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor of science majoring in Biology.
Mrs. Becky Barkdoll teaches Physical Education at Riverside Preparatory School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from California State University, Stanislaus and her Teaching Credential at National University. She grew up in the High Desert playing soccer, softball, and volleyball in the local recreation and club programs. She continued on with the three sports through high school earning various MRL and CIF awards, finally rounding out her career with soccer and softball at the collegiate level including a year of Division II soccer at CSU Stanislaus. Coaching sports is a passion for Mrs. Barkdoll. Most recently she coached the High School Junior Varsity volleyball team and the Middle School soccer team at Riverside Prep. Mrs. Barkdoll is currently completing her Masters Degree in Education at National University.
Mrs. Brandon will be teaching Math and Science as well as Dance and Performing Arts during the 2009-2010 school year. She graduated from Chaffey College with an Associate of Arts degree in education and from California State University San Bernardino with Bachelors in Liberal Studies and a minor in English. She obtained her teaching credential from the University of Redlands and is currently working on her single subject credential in Science at the University of Riverside. Mrs. Brandon has taught grades two through eight and has spent the last five years focusing on teaching Math and Science to Middle School Students. Mrs. Brandon believes that education is empowerment and enjoys sharing that motto with her students. Mrs. Brandon’s favorite pastime is to spend time with her Husband, daughter, turtle and two very funny Chihuahuas.
Miss Butler is in her 3.5 year of teaching English. She graduated from UCLA in 2005 and will graduate with her Masters in Education in 2010 from Azusa Pacific University. She has loved writing since elementary school and has been published in several small magazines/newspapers. She believes in the power of words and the dynamic of the mind, promoting the growth of students through reading and writing. In the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson: “I hate quotations. Tell me what you know.” Miss Butler will be coaching Middle School Basketball and Track & Field this year and has coached JV Girls Basketball and Varsity/JV High School Track and Field.
First Lieutenant Cook-Askins has served as the California Cadet Corps, Commandant of Cadets at Riverside Preparatory School since April 2008. Since June 2007, he has concurrently served as Brigade Support Officer for all California Cadet Corps units in the High Desert and also serves on the State Headquarters Staff of the California Cadet Corps as the Assistant Public Affairs Officer and Assistant Information Technology, Communications & Systems Officer.
First Lieutenant Cook-Askins received a state military commission as a Second Lieutenant by the California Military Department in June of 2007 and was promoted to First Lieutenant in July of 2009. As the Commandant of Cadets at Riverside Preparatory School, he is the chief instructor of the California Cadet Corps unit and is responsible for the overall management of the program. As a Brigade Support Officer he works along side the Brigade Adviser, helping in the administration of brigade and school district functions through out the High Desert. As a member of the State Headquarters Staff, they lead and guide the operations of the state-wide California Cadet Corps program, in conjunction with the full-time staff personnel of the California National Guard, Youth Programs Directorate. He has completed the Basic Commandant Training Academy and was the Distinguished Graduate for the Advanced Commandant Training Academy.
First Lieutenant Cook-Askins was also a Cadet with the California Cadet Corps for six years, during Junior High and High School. He attained the rank of Cadet Colonel during his senior year of High School and served locally in the High Desert as Cadet Brigade Commander and was also Cadet State Commander for all California Cadet Corps units in the State of California.
Rebecca Dingeldein is entering her 7th year of teaching. She has a Bachelor’s of Science in Integrated Mathematics from Ohio University and a Master’s of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Chapman University. In addition, she has her Tier 1 credential in Administration. Rebecca began her teaching career at Maple Heights High School in Cleveland, Ohio, then moved to California and spent the next three years as a teacher for the Victor Valley Union High School District both at Silverado High School and Cobalt Middle School. Since 2007, Rebecca has been both a a teacher and senior teacher at Riverside Preparatory. In addition, Rebecca has been the chair of the mathematics department, a teacher in the areas of Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and AP Statistics, adviser of the middle school leadership team, and as senior teacher, a member of the executive committee. However, this school year, Rebecca has come on the faculty team as an adjunct, senior teacher. Her current duties are teacher of mathematics in the areas of Business Mathematics and Geometry. She in on-campus Monday’s and Wednesday’s from 7:30m – 2:45, but is always available through email or school cell phone. Rebecca looks forward to another successful, and productive year at Riverside Preparatory!
Mrs. Christy Ellis is a mathematics teacher at Riverside Preparatory School. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics with an emphasis in Secondary Education from BIOLA University. She participated in the Torrey Honors Program at BIOLA University, which is an integrated approach to education through reading classical literature. Prior to coming to Riverside Preparatory, she taught at Lucerne Valley High School and spent many years tutoring students.
Mr. Glenn Gendron owned and operated Gendron Restoration Painting in the Redlands area for eighteen years prior to returning to school at the age of 46. He received his Bachelors Degree in Music from the University of Redlands. He continued his education at Chapman University where he received his Master’s Degree in Education Leadership and Administration. While at Chapman University, Mr. Gendron received his GATE certification from UCR Extension School. He holds a clear single subject credential. This is his first year at Riverside Prep following four years of teaching in Riverside County School Districts.
Mrs. LaMar is the Social Studies Department Chair and the tenth grade lead teacher at Riverside Prep. She teaches Modern World History and Intramural Sports. Last year she coached middle school cross country, basketball, and track. This year she will again be coaching the middle school cross country team. Mrs. LaMar holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology and a Single Subject Social Science Credential from CSUSB.
Mrs. Lauri Martin is currently teaching Ninth grade Language Arts, at Riverside Preparatory School. In addition, she teaches Journalism and Creative Writing for an elective. She graduated from Chapman University with her BA in Liberal Studies, and a multiple subject credential. Since then, she has obtained a supplementary credential in English and Science. She has taught numerous grade levels K-12, and enjoys all the small things in life. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Medicine.
Mr. Jeff Proctor is a math teacher at Riverside Preparatory School. He teaches Geometry and Algebra 1. In addition, he teaches the 3-D Drafting and Robotics elective. He earned his Bachelors Degree in Mathematics from California State University Fullerton. He is currently working on obtaining his Masters in Education from Pioneer University. This is his second year teaching at Riverside Preparatory School. Prior to coming to Riverside Preparatory, he taught at Loara High School in Anaheim and El Dorado High School in Placentia.
Mr. Redmond is in his second year teaching Spanish at the Junior/Senior High School level at Riverside Preparatory School. He graduated from Victor Valley College with an Associates of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies and from Brigham Young University with a Bachelors Degree in Latin American Studies. Prior to coming to Riverside Preparatory Mr. Redmond spent two years in Nicaragua, was the Spanish club advisor at Excelsior Education Center and worked in the BOLD program in Utah helping Spanish speaking families assimilate into society. Before coming to Riverside Prep Mr. Redmond taught at Mojave River Academy.
Mr. Redmond teaches Science, Elementary PE, and Intramural Sports. He earned his bachelors degree in Physics from the University of California, Riverside.
Mrs. Kelli Schiller is currently teaching ninth grade Spanish at Riverside Preparatory School. She is also teaching German as an elective. Mrs. Schiller graduated suma cumlaude from Utah State University with her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and geography as well as her teaching credential. She taught middle school and high school for Cache County School District from 1997-2001 in addition to teaching English as a Second Language at night for the Logan English Language Center. In 2001, she moved to California where she has taught high school students for the past eight years and earned her California Clear Credential. She was also an adjunct professor for Victor Valley College in Victorville, CA. She is currently pursuing her Master’s through Pioneer University. This is Mrs. Schiller’s first year at Riverside Prep, and she is ecstatic to be part of such a superb school.
Ms. Kimberly Taylor is the Vocal Music Director for Riverside Preparatory School. She earned her Bachelors Degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Redlands as well as her Masters in Vocal Performance from the University of Redlands. She also completed her teaching credential in Music at Azusa Pacific University. Prior to coming to Riverside Preparatory School Ms. Taylor taught private voice and piano lessons and was the musical director for several musical theater productions. She also taught Elementary music at Wrightwood Elementary in the Snowline Joint Unified School District. She is excited to be here at Riverside Preparatory School.

Mr. Verduzco will be teaching the upper-level Spanish courses during the 2008-2009 academic year. He began his teaching career working with children with special needs and major behavior problems in the state of New York. He went on to work with elementary students as a phonetics coach, then later became a fourth grade teacher in southern California. Mr. Verduzco received two Bachelor’s degrees from Cal State San Bernardino: One degree in Latin American and Iberian Peninsular literature, and another in Spanish instruction and linguistics. During his time at Cal State he served as the President of the Latin American Studies Association where he was responsible for setting up venues based on the Latin American cultures.
Mrs. Whitlock teaches ALgebra 2, Calculus and Home Economics at Riverside prep. She is a first year teacher fresh out of college. She received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in mathematics from California State University, San Bernardino and is currently enrolled in their credential program. Mrs. Whitlock has worked for the Oro Grande School District as a math tutor and a substitute teacher the past two years. When she is not busy doing school work, she likes to go to Dodger games with her husband.
Mr. Wilson has been teaching in public schools for over 10 years. He is a graduate of Pacific Lutheran University, Tacoma Washington, where he earned his Bachelors Degree. He will graduate with his Masters of Science degree in Educational Media Design in November 2009. Prior to teaching here at Riverside Prep, he taught for both the Apple Valley and Victorville school districts. In addition to teaching History, he is an 11th Grade Project advisor and the instructor for our Tech Productions & Movie Making class. He is also a 14-year veteran of the United States Air Force.
