Dr. Andreasen is in his 4th year teaching Physical Education and his 2nd year as Athletic Director at Riverside Preparatory High School. Before coming to Riverside Prep he taught at Silver Valley High School (25 years), Baker High School (2 years) and was a part time instructor at Barstow College (10 years). While at Silver Valley, Coach Andreasen was the Athletic Director for 17 years and coached a variety of sports including: cross-country, basketball, football, softball and golf. Dr. Andreasen earned a Doctorate in Physical Education from Brigham Young University. B

Becky Barkdoll
Physical Education
Mrs. Becky Barkdoll is in her 5th yearof teaching at Riverside Prep and is the Department Chair of Physical Educationprogram. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice fromCalifornia State University, Stanislaus, a Single Subject Teaching Credentialand a Masters of Arts in Education at National University. She grew up inthe High Desert playing soccer, softball, and volleyball in the localrecreation and club programs. She continued on with the three sports throughhigh school earning various MRL and CIF awards, finally rounding out her careerwith soccer and softball at the collegiate level including Division II soccerat CSU Stanislaus. When she isn’tworking she enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, attending USCfootball and Angels games, and playing sports. C
Kelly Caddell

Hello all, my name is Kelly Caddell, and I am a Geometry and Statistics teacher on the high school site of Riverside Preparatory. This is my second year teaching here and can say without hesitation that we have the best students on the high desert! I truly believe that each child has incredible potential to do tremendous things, and I am committed to findings ways to help students realize their full range of capabilities and understanding. As a teacher, I know that I can never become complacent in my own learning, and that I must continually strive to better my own teaching practices, so as to deliver lessons in such a manner that maximum student learning is achieved. I look forward to a year full of progress and achievement with your students!
Kenneth Cook-Askins
Cadet Corps
First Lieutenant Kenneth Cook-Askins has served as the California Cadet Corps, Commandant of Cadets at Riverside Preparatory School since April 2008. As the Commandant of Cadets, he is the chief instructor of the California Cadet Corps unit and is responsible for the overall management of the program. He has a Designated Subjects Special Subjects Teaching Credential (Basic Military Drill) from the State of California, Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
First Lieutenant Cook-Askins was commissioned as a State Military officer in the rank of Second Lieutenant by the California Military Department in June of 2007 and was promoted to First Lieutenant in July of 2009. He’s a graduate of the Basic Commandant Training Academy and was the Distinguished Graduate for the Advanced Commandant Training Academy. He has also graduated from three additional military professional development courses in the following areas: California Physical Education Standards Based Instruction and Assessment, Advanced Drill and Ceremonies Instruction, and Civil, Public and Media Relations.
Since June 2007, he has concurrently served as Brigade Support Officer for all California Cadet Corps units in the High Desert (18th Brigade) and also serves on the State Headquarters Staff of the California Cadet Corps as the Assistant Public Affairs Officer and Assistant Information Technology, Communications & Systems Officer. As a Brigade Support Officer he works along side the Brigade Advisor, running the day-to-day operations of the brigade and helping in the administration of brigade and school district functions throughout the High Desert. As a member of the State Headquarters Staff, they lead and guide the operations of the state-wide California Cadet Corps program, in conjunction with the full-time staff personnel of the California National Guard, Youth and Community Programs Task Force. He is also the Commandant of Cadets at Victor Valley High School and Lakeview Middle School.

Laura Dills
Art
Miss Laura Dills has joined the team at Riverside High School as their first Visual Arts teacher. She graduated from California Polytechnic University at Pomona in Two Thousand Five with her degree in Fine Arts. After completing her degree she returned to her alma mater to complete her credential as a Single Subject Art Teacher. After finishing her credential in two thousand and eight she spent two years in Northern California teaching art at the middle school level. Finding out her family was growing with her first niece she relocated back to Southern California to be near her family.
Duyen Dinh
Math
This is Ms. Dinh’s second year teaching at Riverside Preparatory School. She is teaching Algebra II, Integrated Algebra and Advisory. Ms. Dinh graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Science degree in Math and Computer Science. She completed her Math teaching credential program at CSU Fullerton. Teaching Math has been her passion since she was little. She has been teaching and tutoring Math for more than eight years at various settings from community colleges to high schools to private tutoring centers. She did one year student teaching at Magnolia High School in Orange County. She also was a Math Instructor for Upward Bound Program at CSU Fullerton. Her teaching philosophy is to create an engaging and supporting learning environment for every student to develop into a critical thinker, a lifelong learner and a great team player. She is very patient, hardworking and dedicated. In her free time, she likes to research new cooking recipes and cook various dishes from different cultures. She also likes to read, watch movies and travel.
Stephen Duran
9th GradeGeography
Stephen Duran received his B.A in Social Science at California State University of Los Angeles and his single subject credential at Azusa Pacific University. Stephen is a first year teacher at Riverside Prep and is excited to be a part of this distinguished school! He is a history buff (as nerdy as that sounds), and he is thrilled to be teaching 9th grade Geography this year. In his free time, Stephen likes to spend time with his fiancee (he is getting married this year!), watch the Lakers and Dodgers, spend time with his family, and read presidential biographies. G
Mark Gutierrez
Math
Mr. Gutierrez teaches Algebra 1, Geometry and Mac Applications. He is enjoying his second year teacher at Riverside Preparatory due to the fact that RP has the best and brightest the High Desert has to offer. After graduating from California State University, San Bernardino in March of 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics, Mark began substitute teaching for the Victorville school districts. He has lived in the High Desert for thirty one years and when he is not too busy preparing for the school day he likes spending time with his wife, family and canines. L

Mrs. LaMar is the Social Studies Department Chair and this is her fifth year teaching at Riverside Prep. She teaches Government and Economics, AP European History, and Goals for Living. In addition, Mrs. LaMar coaches cross country at both the middle and high school. Mrs. LaMar holds a Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology and a Single Subject Social Science Credential from CSUSB. She enjoys cooking, traveling, reading, and spending time with her husband and three children. M
Lauri Martin

Mrs. Lauri Martin teaches 9th grade English at Riverside Preparatory School. She is working on nearly 8 years in education, with a K-12 background. She graduated from Chapman University with her Bachelor's of Arts. Lauri holds multiple credentials and has continued her education in a variety of areas since then. She enjoys being outdoors, music, and spending time with her husband and 2 children.
Daniel Mendiola
My full name is Iñigo Daniel Mendiola and I was born in Downey, CA. My father is from Spain (Basque Country) and my mother is from Colombia. I received a scholarship to play Division II Basketball at Eastern New Mexico University where I spent two year studying Spanish. I later completed my B.A. degree in Spanish at Utah Valley University. This is my first year here at Riverside Prep.

Steve Owen
Grade 10History
Steve Owen teaches Grade 10 World History and AP US History. He was born and raised in the Inland Empire and has been a teacher for 26 years. After teaching at a high school in Riverside for eight years, Steve and his family moved overseas where he and his wife taught in American international schools in Pakistan, the Philippines, and Venezuela. After so many years abroad, he is glad to be back in his home country, living closer to friends and family. He has studied and taught psychology, many kinds of history, and a variety of other social studies classes. Steve and his wife are presently developing their land in Taos County, New Mexico into a small farm. Steve also enjoys scuba diving, travel, cooking, reading, and spending time with family. P
Elizabeth Plascencia
High School
Ms. Plascencias is currently in her second year of teaching at Riverside Preparatory. She is very excited to be part of the foreign language department, teaching both Spanish II and French II. She graduated from California State University of San Bernardino with a B.A. in multiple subjects. She is currently continuing her love of learning by pursuing her Masters Degree in Cross-Cultural Bi-Literacy. R
Brian Redmond
Senior Teacher

Mr. Brian Redmond has worked at Riverside Preparatory school since its inception and is entering his 6th year as a teacher. Mr. Redmond holds a bachelors degree from Brigham Young University and Masters degree in Biological Science Education from Western Governor's University. He holds credentials in both Biology and Spanish. Mr. Redmond also serves as the schools Science Department Chair. Before coming to Riverside Prep Mr. Redmond taught at Mojave River Academy and has served as soccer coach, cross country coach, foreign language department chair, and the district science fair coordinator.
Sean Redmond
11th Grade, 12th GradeScience
Sean Redmond is the Chemistry and Physic teacher at Riverside Preparatory School. Mr. Redmond received his Bachelors of Science in Physics from the University of California Riverside in 2008. He completed his teaching credential through National University and his Masters of Art in Educational Physics through Western Governors University. Mr. Redmond has taught Life Science, Physical Science, Physics, and Chemistry in his four years of teaching at Riverside Prep. On his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife and dogs, cycling, and watching movies.
Jeff Riddell
10th Grade
Mr. Jeff Riddell is currently the tenth grade English instructor at Riverside Prep,and received his Bachelor's degree in English Literature from Cal State San Bernardino. Before becoming a full-time instructor, Mr. Riddell worked as a substitute teacher for Riverside Prep. In addition to English, he also teaches Speech and Debate, the History of Rock and Roll, Junior Project, and Yearbook.
Daniel Rincon
Physical Education
Mr. Rincon teaches Physical Education and is in his second year at Riverside Prep. He received his Bachelors degree in Kinesiology from California State University of San Bernardino and his Single Subject Teaching Credential in Physical Education from Redlands University. Mr. Rincon is the head men's basketball coach and the WR/DB coach for Riverside Prep football team. Last year was a very successful year for the men's baskeball team. They finished the year 20-3, went undefeated in league, won the Cross Valley League champioinship, and made it to the CIF playoffs. When not in school he enjoys playing golf, basketball, running, video games, poker, watching Lakers and USC games.

Sarah Sinks
9th Grade
Ms. Sarah Sinks is a part of the 9th grade team and teaches Earth Science. This is her first year at Riverside Prep. There are two things Ms. Sinks has always known: 1. She has always wanted to be a teacher and, 2. She loves rocks! While obtaining her BA in Communications at California State University, Fullerton, she completed several Geology courses. She is dually authorized to teach Earth Science and English, and has been known to correct common grammatical errors in all of her science classes.
Ms. Sinks is working on her Master’s in Education through Chapman University, and plans on pursuing an administrative credential in thefuture. When Ms. Sinks is not at school (Riverside Prep) or at school (Chapman), she enjoys spending time at the park with her five year-old son, Daniel. Her favorite color is purple, and when no one is listening, she loves to sing loudly (and poorly) in her car. T

Heather Vennes

High School English
Mrs. Vennes is in her seventh year of teaching. She spent two years in the Victor Valley School district, and has been with Riverside Prep since its opening in 2007. She graduated from Cal State University, San Bernardino with a BA in English. She will complete her MA in English Composition with a focus in literature from CSUSB in Fall 2011. This year she is teaching English IV, AP English Literature and Composition, Creative Writing and Psychology.

Spanish
Miss Western is in her fourth year of teaching at Riverside Prep. She is currently the Spanish 1 teacher for the foreign language department. Miss Western received her BA from Cal State San Bernardino and her teaching credential and MA from National University. She has worked as ASB advisor, Interact Advisor and coach of the seventh grade academic pentathlon team during her time at Riverside Prep.
Mary Whitlock
Trigonometry & Calculus
Mrs. Whitlock teaches Algebra 2, Precalculus, and Calculus at Riverside Prep. She received her Bachelors of Science degree in mathematics from California State University, San Bernardino in 2009 and just completed her preliminary teaching credential in secondary mathematics from Western Governors University. She is currently enrolled in WGU's Masters in Mathematics Education program. Mrs. Whitlock has worked for the Oro Grande School District as a math tutor as well as a substitute teacher and this will be her third year of teaching here. When she is not busy doing school work, she likes to go to Dodger games with her husband and play with her adorable rabbits.
Elizabeth Wilson
English
Mrs. Elizabeth Wilson is currently the English II instructor at Riverside Prep. She received her Bachelor's degree in English Literature from California State University at San Bernardino, graduating with both High Honors and Departmental Honors. She also earned her single subject credential from Cal State. She taught in the San Bernardino City Unified School District before joining Riverside Prep and this is her second year of teaching. Mrs. Wilson is excited to be working with the distinguished high school students at Riverside Prep. When not teaching Mrs. Wilson enjoys traveling, spending time with her family, and watching football. Because she is from Arkansas, she proudly cheers for the great Arkansas Razorbacks and America’s team, the Dallas Cowboys.
Rodney Woodbury
Band Director
Rodney Woodbury was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV where he was fortunate to have outstanding music teachers who inspired him to major in music education in college. After graduating from UNLV, Mr. Woodbury began his teaching career at Century High School in Pocatello, Idaho where he directed the Marching, Symphonic, Jazz and Pep bands and taught beginning and advanced guitar. He moved to Worland, Wyoming in 2008 where he taught all levels of instrumental music in grades 6th- 12th. This is Mr. Woodbury's first year serving as the Riverside Prep band director. He and his wife Cassie have 6 children. Y
Angela Young
Choir
Angela Young, a native of Southern California, is a performing artist, arranger, composer, and music teacher with over 30 years as a piano and vocal instructor. Mrs. Young also has experience as a band instructor. Mrs. Young started playing piano at the age of four under the tutelage of her parents who also majored in music. Angela’s parents discovered that Angela also at the age of four has “perfect pitch.” (the ability to identify or recreate a given musical note without the benefit of an external reference) Mrs. Young went on to excel in music in her early years of primary and secondary education which included participating in various Southern California, and California State High School Honor Choirs, accompanying her high school choir on piano, playing clarinet in High School Marching Band, and competing in talent shows. Mrs. Young earned many honors in music which included being voted “Most Talented in High School,” “Most Outstanding in Music,” “Who’s Who Among American High School Music Students,” and being selected to tour Europe with America’s Youth in Concert, along with 500 other talented high school students representing many states in the U.S. Mrs. Young earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and Single Subject Music Credentials at Cal State San Bernardino. She believes that music is an integral part of education as it lends itself to not only create an arena for students to work as a team, but to also help students especially in the areas of language arts and math. Mrs. Young has served as music director, organist, pianist, and choir director of several churches. Mrs. Young has also played semi-professionally with bands of various genres of music as lead keyboardist, lead and background vocals. Mrs. Young works well with adults and children, and she believes that music is a wonderful outlet where students may express themselves, and have fun as they discover the wonderful world of music. Mrs. Young is married, the mother of 5 children, grandmother of 2 granddaughters, and loves riding her Yamaha V-Star Classic 1100 motorcycle in her spare time.
